Steve Mooney enlisted in the Maryland Air National Guard in August 1982. During his time in the Air National Guard he has held many positions of leadership within the Air National Guard rising to the rank of Chief Master Sergeant. He has deployed in support of Operation Desert Shield/ Storm (1990-1991), Operation Iraqi Freedom (2004-2005), Operation Enduring Freedom (2012, and 2014). Along with Domestic Operations like Baltimore Rally (civil unrest) (2015), and Operation Steadfast Guardian COVID-19 response (2020) Steve also serves on the Maryland National Guard Honor Guard providing military honors for fallen Veterans throughout the state of Maryland.

In his civilian employment, Steve is a retired Fire Lieutenant with the Baltimore County Fire Department with over 35 years’ experience providing fire suppression and EMS services to the public.

Steve resides in Linthicum, MD with his wife Laura of 29 years. He has 3 adult children and 2 grandchildren.

Steve attended Saratoga WarHorse in Aiken S.C. in May 2015.
