David is a native of Brooklyn, NY and is a retired Marine who spent 24 years on active duty.  David began his service as an enlisted soldier in the Army, where he served with the 82nd Airborne Division as an infantry paratrooper.  After completing his Army service, he attended college and, upon graduation, attended Marine Corps Officer Candidate School, earning him a commission as an Officer in the Marines.  David was assigned as an Infantry Officer and had the privilege of leading Marines at multiple levels culminating in his service as Commanding Officer 1st Battalion, 2nd Marines. During his time in the Marine Corps, he participated in multiple operational deployments around the world, including two combat tours in Iraq. Other assignments include service as an exchange officer with the Royal Marines, two tours on recruiting duty, and service as Deputy Director, Operations & Plans, Marine Corps Installations East. His personal awards include the Bronze Star with Combat Distinguishing Device ("V"), the Combat Action Ribbon, the Meritorious Service Medal, and the Navy Commendation Medal.

David completed his undergraduate work at the State University of New York (SUNY) at Albany and pursued graduate degrees while in the Marine Corps. He is a Distinguished Graduate of both the Amphibious Warfare School and the Marine Corps Command and Staff College, from which he was awarded a Master of Military Studies degree. He also earned a Master of Public Administration degree from Golden Gate University during his time of service.

After retiring as a LtCol, David worked as a municipal manager in Alaska and subsequently served as the Commandant of Midshipmen at the United States Merchant Marine Academy.  Since 2016 David has dedicated his time to working in various capacities on behalf of Veterans and First Responders, and he is proud to continue that service with Saratoga WarHorse Foundation.

David resides in Clifton Park with his wife Tracey, daughter Sofia, their wound up Vizsla Riley, and a bevy of chipmunks that love to destroy his landscaping.
