Felipe enlisted in the United States Army with a reporting date of 23 January 1990 at Fort Benning, Georgia.
Felipe served with Alpha Company, 1st Battalion, 14th Infantry Regiment (Golden Dragons) of the 25th Infantry Division (Light) as a rifleman, Radio Telephone Operator, Rifle Team Leader, Infantry Squad Leader and Anti-Tank/Reconnaissance Section Leader until he was selected to attend the United States Army Officer Candidate School at Fort Benning, Georgia. Lieutenant Moon served as an Infantry Rifle Platoon Leader, Mortar Platoon Leader and Air Operations Officer with 1st Battalion, 87th Infantry Regiment (To The Top!) of the 10th Mountain Infantry Division (Light).
Felipe served over three years as a company commander, with one year in combat. He was the Director of Civil Military Operations (G9), for the 10th Mountain Division (L) served as the advisor for the Kuwait Land Forces, 94th Mechanized Infantry Brigade/Sabahiya “Strategic Response” Task Force, where he trained several infantry, special operations, and counter-terrorist units. His other significant leadership assignments include Joint Task Force Six (JTF-North) Counter Narcotics Operations and JTF-Force Bravo in Panama. His last post was as the Counterinsurgency Specialist for the Joint and Combined Integration Directorate, Fires Center of Excellence, Fort Sill, Oklahoma.
His awards and decorations include: Bronze Star Medal, Meritorious Service Medal (3), Army Commendation Medal (4), Army Achievement Medal (2), Army Good Conduct (2), National Defense Service Medal (2), Iraq Campaign Medal with Campaign Star, Kosovo Campaign Medal with Bronze Service Star, Combat Infantryman Badge, Expert Infantryman Badge, Air Assault Badge, Airborne Badge, and Ranger Tab.
Felipe lives in the town of Charlton in Upstate New York in on an old dilapidated horse farm with his two sons and no horses.
